In
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, there are a number of scenes of characters facing their own doppelgangers - Willow and her alternate-universe vampire self, for example - but the one that really stood out on technical grounds was the two Xanders when his personality got split in two. While the two versions are kept apart for most of the episode, by the end they are interacting directly and seamlessly, simultaneously with each other and with the rest of the cast.
Which would be an even more remarkable achievement if actor Nicholas Brendon didn't have an identical twin.

Yeah, Blizzard lost my money with "no offline play," too, although had they been honest about their reasons and admitted it was to monetize the game, instead of claiming it was to help out people who were confused that offline-created characters couldn't be converted to online ones, I might have been more forgiving.
My decision has worked out well for me, too, because recently Time Warner "upgraded" my cable modem to one that randomly drops my internet connectivity for 2-5 minutes several times a day.

What really cheeses me off is that EA are planning to pull the same stupid stunt with the new SimCity. I hope their offices catch fire and the fire engines can't reach them because the city planners forgot to join the roads up.

Well, I got my copy of D3 because I told Blizzard I was going to play WoW for the next year at least (which I'd planned anyway).
I don't know if I'd have paid $60 for it, but getting it as a premium for doing something I'm doing anyway is okay...and that leaves me money for T2 when it comes out.

These DMCA complaints have no legal basis. That doesn't stop the fuckheads in question from filing them, and it doesn't stop the complaints from being a headache for me.

Okay, although the game may closely resemble a familiar family entertainment, it's not like it at all. It works rather in reverse, starting with a bustling happy city and proceeding toward the titular doom, the winner being the player bringing about their particular form of doom first.
And the special editions ($75 and up) come complete with pewter figures of the Elder Gods, which is not something you want to miss.

Creatively Clouded
So Adobe's
new software rental model is finally out, and a lot cheaper than the previous version. And I noticed that they're offering a significant discount if you sign up for a full year and already have a license for any of their professional products version CS3 or later. Given the number of applications and bundles I've bought over the years, surely I'd have something that will do the trick.
So, let's see (shuffle, shuffle...) Macromedia Suite Version 8? Probably not. Aha, Fireworks CS3 license key. Type type type... Achievement unlocked: 40% discount! Achievement unlocked: Adobe Everything!
I will of course be too busy to ever do anything with any of it, but that's not the point. The point is, mine!
Update: There we go, I now have working installs of CS3, 4, and 5 Design Premium, and CS6 Master Collection. Skipped over CS5.5; it didn't really seem worth the effort.
